Amazon Fire Tablet 2022: How to Install Google Play Store and Download Apps

If you own an Amazon Fire Tablet, you will be restricted from using the Amazon Appstore, but it runs on Fire OS, which is a custom version of Android.

That means that you can install the Play Store and get access to millions of Android apps and games, including apps like Gmail, Chrome, Google Maps, and more.

The best part of installing the Google Play Store on your Amazon Fire Tablet is that it does not need any in-depth hacking like rooting or running scrips from a computer.

It is just a matter of downloading and installing a few APK files from the Amazon Fire Tablet, and you will be up and running with the Google Play Store just like your regular Android phone or tablet, according to Wired.

Download the Google Play Store Files

Before you start, you first need to make sure that your Amazon Fire Tablet is from 2014 or later versions. This process may not work with the old model of Kindle Fire tablets as you need to enable "Apps From Unknown Sources."

Then, open Settings and go to Security and Privacy. Choose "Apps From Unknown Sources." Look for "Silk Browser" and click on "Allow From This Source". That is what will allow you to install an app from outside of the Amazon app store.

Once you are done with that process, you can start downloading the Google Play Store files. There are four APK files that you need to get the Google Play Store up and running, and they are specific to your Amazon Fire Tablet.

To find out which Amazon Fire Tablet model you have, just go to Settings, then Device Options, and click on About Fire Tablet. You will see your Device Model name there. To see your Fire OS version, go to Settings, Device Options and System Updates.

With the device model in mind, you can download the needed files. Just copy and paste the links from the table posted by HowtoGeek into the Silk Browser on your tablet. Remember to download them first, do not open them yet.

Install the Google Play Store

With all of the downloaded APK files on your Amazon Fire Tablet, you can start installing them one by one. Just open the Files app from the home screen.

Next, choose Downloads from the side menu and check the list view for the files, you should see four files that you've just downloaded.

It is important to install the APKs in a specific order, according to LifeWire. First, tap the file, then choose Continue. Tap the Install button. After the installation, tap Done but do not open the Google Play Store yet.

Install the files in this order:

com.google.android.gsf.login

com.google.android.gsf

com.google.android.gms

com.android.vending

Once the APKs have been installed, you need to reboot your tablet. Just hold down the power button and choose Restart.

After the tablet restarts, you will see the Play Store on the home screen. Open it and sign in using your Google account.

As soon as you are signed in, you will have a functional Google Play Store, just like on any other Android device.
